Comfort & Joy warmly invites you to the fourth annual ‘Playa in the Grove’, a fabulous afternoon of art, music, connection and other festivities in partnership with the National AIDS Memorial Grove! For this celebration of our amazing queer community, both in the bay and at Burning Man, we feel the sacred Memorial Grove is the perfect magical space to revel and relax in as we honor our past and envision our future.

This special *FREE* gathering will feature:

• An orgy of gorgeous interactive displays by local queer artists such as Chickpea (Brian Busta), Mikey Mann, Dot (Tom Schmidt), Neon (Jim Hobson), Bob Burnside, Scott Pando, David Lai, the C&J Art Committee (Bernadette, Blue/Jay Sterling Austin, Denis, David, Danny & Hunter), and more, including a beautiful Heart Space Labyrinth by Noodles (David Cooney) to share and reflect on collective community experiences with AIDS.

• Opening ceremony at 11:45am with High Priest Ganymede, sound healer Erica Sandstedt and blessings from The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence

• Delightful music by dazzling DJs Jason Godfrey, Bus Station John (Scott Tobereal), and Hil Huerta

• Hooping Queericulum Workshop from 1-2:30pm by Vertel Jackson and Liam Ocean of Electric Spectrum LED Circus

• Amazing drag performances at both 1:30pm and 3:15pm, hosted by ferocious drag queen Mama Dora (Dora M Ama), also featuring Keith Lawrence (Grammy-nominated violin virtuso) Larissa (founder of the San Francisco Bellydance Theater), music by KXMRXN and more!

• Pop-up performances and interactive fun by hoop phenomenons Liam Ocean and Aaron Zamarron throughout the afternoon

• Facepainting magic by Kamran Adib

In the collaborative community spirit, we'll also have a delicious POTLUCK so PLEASE BRING FINGER FOOD (no utensils) to share! Water and ice will be provided (please bring cups to help reduce waste). Shout out to Fabien and Xander for helping organize.

Other things to bring include your own libations (BYOB), blankets, park fun (flagging, hoops, massage oil, etc) and love!
